He ran the race. He fought the good fight. Now he is with Jesus.

Matt’s Story

Matthew Quinn was diagnosed with Stage 4 Cancer in January of 2014. Shortly after receiving the news Matt turned to Jesus as the source of his peace and strength as he began the fight against cancer. With the severity of his condition the doctors warned that Matt may only have one year to live from the time of diagnosis, but Matt and his family chose to stand and fight believing for the miraculous.

For several months after diagnosis Matt was in incredible health, vitality and high spirits. He was able to make wonderful memories with his family, go on vacations and spend quality time with those he loved. But sadly as 2014 progressed his symptoms began to worsen as the cancer spread and tumors increased in size. Still, Matt pressed on with the love and support of his family. He did not fear death but wanted to live and continued to believe.

In the very early hours of Monday, February 23, 2015 Matt’s fight was over and he finished the race. He passed away at home surrounded by the love of his family. He was 33 years old.

Matt leaves behind his loving wife, Lana and his three sons Kingston, Coen, and Christian. He is survived by his father Tony, mother Thais, sister’s Katherine and Jessica, and brother’s Michael and Eric.

We miss him desperately and love him with our entire hearts. He is gone from this earth, but very much alive in the world to come and we find comfort in the knowledge that we will see him again.

  2. The Lord instructed me to take a friend and go see Matthew while he was in the hospital in January of 2014, preparing for the surgery he would have later that week. The Lord said to speak with Matthew about salvation and being “right with God”. Matthew was very receptive to this message and embraced Jesus Christ that day. He was noticeably different thereafter. He would go on to be water baptized at Biltmore Baptist Church and demonstrated a real faith in Jesus.
I love Matthew so much and miss him profoundly. I rejoice in the knowledge that he is in the Paradise of God and we who know the Lord will see him again.
Take care, Matthew … I will see you again, my brother!
